Bronco Mendenhall’s second season in Charlottesville begins with three home games for the Virginia football team. All will be afternoon kickoffs, UVA and the ACC announced Wednesday.

The Cavaliers open the season on Saturday, Sept. 2 vs. William & Mary at Scott Stadium. The next Saturday, they host Indiana. Both of those games have been slated for 3:30 p.m. kickoffs on the ACC Network Extra (viewed via the WatchESPN App or by logging on to ESPN3.com). The Hoos take on Connecticut in the third game of the season-opening home stand. That contest on Sept. 16 is scheduled for a noon kickoff and will be carried by ESPNU.

This news means Virginia fans now know the kickoff times for the entire month of September. The Boise State road game on Friday, Sept. 22 already had been announced as an 8 p.m. kickoff on ESPN or ESPN2. Here is a look at the September quartet in a list:

  • Saturday, Sept. 2: William & Mary at Virginia, ACC Network Extra, 3:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, Sept. 9: Indiana at Virginia, ACC Network Extra, 3:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, Sept. 16: Connecticut at Virginia, ESPNU, Noon
  • Friday, Sept. 22:Virginia at Boise State, ESPN or ESPN2, 8 p.m.

Two special promotions have been announced already as well. The Indiana game will be Military Appreciation Day at Scott Stadium, while the UConn game is Youth Day. Information on tickets can be found in this Virginia news release. UVA’s schedule features seven home games this fall. In addition to the three September home games, the Hoos host Duke (Oct. 7), Boston College (Oct. 21), Georgia Tech (Nov. 4), and Virginia Tech (Nov. 24) in conference play. The ACC game with VT, like the Boise game, is on Friday.

Mendenhall guided the Cavaliers to a 2-10 record in his debut season in Charlottesville. The team defeated Central Michigan at Scott Stadium and Duke in a road game.
