Hoos Talking Returns For Season 8

Hoos Talking is set for season 8.

Hoos Talking, TheSabre.com’s Richmond radio partner, returns for its eighth season on the air and that means fans will have regular chances to hear great Hoos on the air. The show airs weekly on Fox Sports 910 AM (WRNL) on Monday nights at 6 p.m.

In its first seven seasons, Hoos Talking has produced 256 live programs and interviewed 629 on-air guests. There’s no sign of slowing down with another year on tap!

“I was always very bullish that Hoos Talking would be well received,” co-host Frank Maloney said. “As a huge fan of Chuck Noe and his legendary Sunday night show on WRVA, I believed the Wahoo fanbase in Central Virginia was starved for a weekly show devoted to UVA athletics.”

Maloney joked that by year four, co-host Jim Hobgood started to say things like ‘this show might just catch on!’ as more and more guests appeared on the show. Some of Maloney’s favorite guests have included Bullet Bill Dudley, Scott Gardner, Don Majikowski, Frank Quayle, Howard Petty, Coach George Welsh, Dick “Bam Bam”Ambrose, Buzzy Wilkinson, Coach Terry Holland, Ralph Sampson, Jeff Lamp, Gus Gerard, Wally Walker, Steve Marino, Brian Vahaly, Coach Dom Starsia, and former ACC Commissioner Gene Corrigan. For Hobgood, Bill Dudley, Joe Palumbo, and Buzzy Wilkinson all came to mind, particularly as Hoo legends who are no longer with us.

Surprisingly to long-time UVA hoops fans, only one basketball player is on Hobgood’s short list.

“Frank has taught me that it’s ‘always football season!’” Hobgood joked. “Hard thing for a hoops guy to admit, but true. Beyond hoops, the show has greatly expanded my appreciation and knowledge of the overall UVA athletic program for which I’m really grateful.”

Hoos Talking enters year eight, you can keep up with the show once again on TheSabre.com. Archives from the current season are updated weekly and you can find any of the previous seasons on the site as well. You can also find the listen live link on the site to hear the show via Fox Sports 910’s internet stream.
