Virginia lacrosse player Steele Stanwick has been named one of five finalists for the 2012 Tewaaraton Trophy, according to this VirginiaSports.com news release. The Tewaaraton Trophy is given to the top male collegiate lacrosse player each season. Stanwick won the award last season.
So far in 2012, Stanwick has compiled some impressive numbers with 26 goals and 45 assists. He leads the nation in assists and is No. 2 nationally with 5.07 points per game. Stanwick currently ranks No. 22 all-tie in NCAA Division I history with 260 career points. Stanwick puts 62.7% of his shots on goal; he owns a 38.8% shooting percentage.
The other Tewaaraton Trophy finalists are Colgate’s Peter Paum, Duke’s C.J. Costabile, UMass’ Will Manny and Loyola’s Mike Sawyer.
Don’t forget that fans also can vote through May 14 for Stanwick to win the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award.
