Moments after winning his first National Championship as Virginia’s head men’s soccer coach, George Gelnovatch’s emotions were all positive, though tinged with relief. Relieved that it had finally come after 14 years, and after skeptics pointed to the four consecutive championships won by his predecessor, Bruce Arena.
“When you’re the head coach, and it’s your baby, it’s a lot more powerful,” he said.
