Myers’ Squad Embraces New Season

Just like Dom Starsia, Myers lost almost all of her starting attack to graduation. Some of the most prolific players in the program, big names like Blair Weymouth and Jenny Hauser, are gone, leaving redshirt senior Whitaker Hagerman as the lone holdover from last year’s starting attack line. The women’s team, like the men’s, will be dependent upon a deep, experienced midfield to jumpstart the inexperienced attack.

Last season, the women’s lacrosse team was ranked a preseason No. 3, only to fall short of the expectations of the coaches, players, fans, and media. This story should sound familiar to any of you who followed the men’s team last season. All signs pointed to another run in the NCAA Tournament for Myers and her squad. The Cavaliers made a first-round exit from the NCAA, however, after being knocked out of the ACC Tournament in the semifinals.

“Last year, we were ranked really high and in the end it was a disappointment because we were ranked so high,” senior midfielder and captain Kaitlin Duff said.
