QB Johns Talks UVa Visit, Decision Timetable

Gonzaga (Washington, D.C.) rising senior quarterback Nick Johns has taken numerous college visits, including trips to Maryland, N.C. State and Virginia, the three schools that have definitive scholarship offers on the table. Is a decision coming soon for the 6’3″ signal caller?

“I think I’m going to make my decision in mid or late May unless my recruiting blows up,” Johns said. “If my recruiting blows up, I could push it back to the summer.”

North Carolina, Penn State and Virginia Tech are among the schools that have expressed serious interest in Johns, who in fact will visit Penn State this weekend. He recently took a visit to Virginia Tech, but the Tech coaches want to see him throw in spring practice.

Whether or not other schools offer remains to be seen, leaving the Cavaliers, Terrapins and Wolfpack as the current primary contenders for the Gonzaga standout. Johns was in Charlottesville yesterday to further explore UVa, a school he has seen four times now.
