Class of 2016 WR Joseph Reed Lands UVa Offer

Randolph-Henry (Charlotte Court House, VA) wide receiver Joseph Reed impressed at a camp at the University of Virginia in the summer of 2013. Reed plans to attend another one-day at UVa this summer, but this time he’ll do so with a scholarship offer from the Cavaliers.

Cavalier head coach Mike London informed the standout rising junior of the offer this past Saturday, while Reed was in Charlottesville for Virginia’s annual Spring Game. Randolph-Henry head coach Jay Cole discussed what London and company see in the talented prospect.

“I think a lot has to do with him being a sophomore and having some of the size qualities he has,” Cole said. “He’s roughly 6’2”, 205 or 210 pounds as a receiver. He runs in the high 4.4s in the 40. I can’t teach that. God gave him that. He also is a 3.5 GPA kid. He’s not an academic worry. He is in all upper-level honors courses. He comes from a strong family.”

Reed is a 3-sport athlete at Randolph-Henry. His father played baseball on the college level and he is an accomplished baseball player in his own right, but Reed’s passion is football according to Coach Cole. It was on the diamond, though, that Cole recognized Reed was a big-time athlete.
