With football season fast approaching, the Hoo Preview will provide some opponent snapshots in the coming days.

Next on the docket is Louisville, who joins the ACC this season and takes Maryland’s place as Virginia’s annual cross-division opponent. The Cardinals have a new-old coach in Bobby Petrino as he returns to the school for a second stint as head football coach. In his first go-round, Petrino guided Louisville to records of 9-4, 11-1, 9-3, and 12-1. He inherits a team that went 12-1 last season as well.

The Cardinals must replace star quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and a long list of defensive players. Bridgewater passed for 9,817 yards and 72 touchdowns in his career so that’s a lot of production to replace. Will Gardner appears to be the next starting QB for Louisville, which travels to Scott Stadium on Sept. 13 at 12:30 p.m.

Let’s take a closer look.
