The Hoos took care of business against the Spiders in their 45-13 win last Saturday. There was plenty to like and some areas of concern too during the victory.

Yes, the defense gave up a lot of yards but 13 points are 13 points. Overall the defense looked good but if didn’t like the ‘keep in front of you, make the tackle and force the opponent to drive the ball down the field in 57 plays to score’ scheme of last week, you may be unhappy again this weekend.

The offense realized slight improvement in the running game, but it’s clearly not good enough looking ahead. If you’re a glass half full reader, however, the Cavaliers ran for 157 yards or more only four times last season so that’s something. The passing game improved and overall the special teams showed improvement from a pretty solid opening week. If the punt return issues can be fixed, this could a “special” special teams operation.
