Petrishen Makes Return Visit To UVa

Central Catholic (Pittsburgh, PA) defeated North Allegheny this past Friday, 28-7, thanks in part to a top performance from 6’2”, 190-pound senior John Petrishen, who hauled in a game-tying 42-yard reception just before halftime and racked up over 100 yards in punt returns in the victory.

Petrishen, who is being recruited by Virginia as a safety, woke up early Saturday and headed to UVa for a visit. He arrived in Charlottesville around 11 am, in time to watch the Hoos defeat Louisville. Petrishen stayed through Sunday, heading home after meeting with Cavalier head coach Mike London.

“It was my first time meeting him, so that was big for me. He’s really cool,” Petrishen said of London. “I liked him more than I thought I would. He’s a parent as well. He shows he takes care of his players. He treats ’em like family. He said a lot of great things. He told me how I could develop as a player and as a person at UVa. He told me how much he wanted me there and how he felt UVa was a great fit for me. He wants me to join an already impressive recruiting class.”

Pitt, Virginia and Wake Forest are the three schools Petrishen has been focused on for quite some time. He attended Pitt’s season opener and plans to return this weekend to see the Panthers host the Iowa Hawkeyes.
