Virginia has played well enough this year that moral victories are a little less enjoyable than they might have been before. That certainly was true this week.
A Few Plays Thing
It isn’t unusual for BYU to wear teams down in the second half. It isn’t unusual that visiting teams feel the effects of the altitude in Provo a little more in the second half. It isn’t unusual for a player like Taysom Hill to step up in the second half. Nope, none of that is unusual …
… but boy, oh boy, wouldn’t it be nice to have that second half back?
Sure, the injury to Greyson Lambert is something I would like to rewind and undo. But beyond that, it was the few plays that flip a game. The (called) fumble on fourth down. David Dean just missing a sack on third down on what turned out to be a 50-yard touchdown pass, finally giving BYU a little separation in the fourth quarter. Two players “stacking” on kick coverage, giving BYU’s Adam Hine the seam he needed on his touchdown return.
