Virginia running back Kevin Parks has two rushing touchdowns this season. Neither came easily.

Both have them required the senior to play through a facemask to get to the end zone. Against Richmond, Parks rumbled in from three yards out and his facemask got a gentle tug on the way into the end zone. That play didn’t draw a penalty. On Saturday against Kent State, a much more flagrant face mask did bring out the yellow flags. Parks managed to ignore the contact and scored on the four-yard carry. The 15-yard penalty was accessed on the next kickoff.

“Yeah I was trying to tell the ref while the play was going on that he was grabbing my facemask. My neck turned around but things like that happen,” Parks said.

Parks also scored on an 11-yard reception in the second half against the Golden Flashes. That one, however, was decidedly easier. In fact, no one touched Parks on his way to the end zone.
