Former VT Basketball Commit Lands UVa Football Offer

When William Fleming (Roanoke, VA) standout athlete Warren Craft suited up to play football as a junior last season, he was still committed to play for James Johnson and the Virginia Tech men’s basketball program. Now, football may be his future.

Craft verbally committed to Tech in the summer of 2012, following his freshman year at William Fleming. This past spring, after Buzz Williams replaced Johnson as head coach, Craft and the Tech men’s basketball program went their separate ways.

Currently, the only basketball scholarship offer on the table is Prairie View A&M. VMI came through with a football scholarship offer this past summer. This week, though, Craft landed his first major FBS opportunity.

“It’s a blessing and great opportunity having an offer from UVA,” Craft wrote in a direct message through Twitter. “It shows that the hard work and dedication put in really does pay off.”
