The reigning ACC Champions have taken the best shot of team after team so far in this year’s conference race and the Hoos keep on winning. The latest test of resilience came against Florida State without starting point guard London Perrantes for the final 14 minutes because he left the game with a bloody broken nose. The Double Bonus dives into basketball analysis after a win again!

The Pivot Man

Most Virginia fans know that Darion Atkins’ twin brother Darius Atkins is a dancer (read Whitey Reid’s article in The Daily Progress here). After the Florida State game, Darion might be able to take his fancy footwork to the stage in the future. The Hoo senior had the pivot foot going in the win.

Three different times in the second half, Atkins caught a pass then whirled and twirled his way to a bucket.

“The ref actually came up and gave me a compliment on that. He was surprised I was able to keep my pivot foot down,” Atkins said. “Those are moves I work on every day and it becomes instinct. I work hard on my post moves so I’m able to convert in a game.”
