10 Questions For Bennett’s Hoos Revisited, Part I

Prior to the season, I dialed up 10 questions that I thought were important for Virginia during the 2014-15 season. The Cavaliers, of course, uncorked a 30-win season for the second straight year and repeated as outright ACC Regular Season Champions.

With the NCAA Tournament in the books after ACC foe Duke won the National Championship, it’s time to go back and revisit those preseason questions (read Part I and Part II in the archives) to see how they impacted the past season and to see if they provide clues for the next campaign.

10. Can the Wahoos benefit from increased offensive rebounding again?

The resounding answer here: yes. This has become a significant story during these two 30-win seasons because it has helped boost UVa’s offensive efficiency without sacrificing anything in transition defense.

Virginia finished the season with an offensive rebounding percentage of 33.6%, the highest mark of the Tony Bennett area. That placed the Hoos 43rd nationally in the stat, another significant jump up the charts. Bennett’s six years have shown both a philosophical shift and an increase in talent when it comes to offensive rebounds.
