Versatility Proving Important For Virginia

WASHINGTON – While Virginia won the ACC Tournament in 2014 and the program has made back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances, this year’s version may be the most dangerous to date in postseason play regardless of how the end shakes out. The reason is simple: versatility.

The Cavaliers can match up with virtually any system and any style across college basketball and still be highly effective.
Traditional looks with two big post players, small ball with stretch forwards, four guards, or even big perimeter lineups can all be matched by the Hoos. Need to win a defensive battle? UVA has an answer for that. Need to shoot a high percentage and win with a little more offense? These Wahoos have done that too.

It’ a luxury to have so many proven options now that the postseason has arrived.

”I think versatility and depth,” Virginia’s Isaiah Wilkins said. ”We have a lot of guys that do a lot of different things. Tonight they went small so we tried different things so it was just good to get a lift from everybody.”
