Guard Brandon Williams Emerges As UVA Target In Class Of 2018

Brandon Williams estimates that he has been telling people since the seventh grade that the University of Arizona is his dream school, so seeing the Wildcats listed on the 6’2”, 173-pound combo guard’s list of nine scholarship offers no doubt is cause for concern for other college coaches. Count UVA, though, among the other schools in hot pursuit of the talented rising junior from Crespi High School (Encino, CA), which produced Cavaliers rising fourth year point guard London Perrantes.

“I’ve been saying Arizona is my dream school since the seventh grade, but don’t know if that’s going to factor into it if I decide to commit there,” said Williams, who has also received scholarship offers from California, Connecticut, Grand Canyon, LMU, Southern Cal, UCLA, UNLV and Virginia. “I’m really open right now.”

Of Arizona, Williams said: “I like the program. My old AAU team was based in Arizona. I lived in California but would be down in Arizona almost every weekend. It was the first college I really watched. I liked Stanley Johnson.”

UVA head coach Tony Bennett extended a scholarship offer on June 15. He has heaped high praise on the Crespi star.
