IMG Academy (Bradenton, FL) linebacker Case Gatlin first visited the University of Virginia on March 4 for an organized Junior Day recruiting event. In the days following this experience, the 6’4”, 205-pound rising senior issued two notable signals possibly foreshadowing the commitment he would give head coach Bronco Mendenhall on April 22.

Signal number one: In an interview with The Sabre, Gatlin indicated he would be making a return visit to Charlottesville … and soon.

“They want me to go up and make sure I liked how they practice and everything,” Gatlin said in a March 8 article on the EDGE. “I’m definitely considering all [of what Virginia has to offer]. I’m definitely going to go.”

Making a return visit is obviously a positive sign. However, it’s not uncommon for a prospect to making several visits to a school only to commit elsewhere. It was when Gatlin informed us that he wanted the interest level in Virginia on his Sabre recruiting card changed from “Low” to “High” that a commitment seemed likely to come in the near future.
