While short-range recruiting focuses on the 2018 class with the busy summer schedule starting to ramp up soon, the Virginia basketball programs also have their eyes on future classes as well. The Hoos have put in some early legwork on two of the nation’s top prospects in 2020 forward Isaiah Todd and 2019 forward Samantha Brunelle.

Both players are wearing Team USA jerseys this month in Argentina as part of the 2017 FIBA Americas U16 Championship. Todd made the roster for the June 14-18 event, while Brunelle is in Argentina now on the girl’s side. Both players suit up on the AAU recruiting circuit for Team Loaded where other UVA prospects like David McCormack and Jaelin Llewellyn also play.

The national recruiting services have not ranked the 2020 class yet, but Todd will be among the top prospects on any of those lists. Future150.com ranks him as the No. 3 player in the class, while internet buzz cites his potential to be the No. 1 overall player for 2020.

Todd has recruiting offers from Virginia, Kansas, Baylor, Wake Forest, and Miami as part of a long list. Others like Duke, Kentucky, and UNC have expressed interest as you’d expect for someone with his potential. Coaches can’t directly contact 2020 players yet, but Todd did tell Rivals National Analyst Eric Bossi that he’s “cool with” Tony Bennett at UVA.
