Last summer, David Duke Jr. visited Virginia as part of a team tour with his Mass Rivals Basketball Club. At the time, Duke says, Virginia didn’t really have him on the radar. That’s changed quite a bit in the past 12 months.

The Cavaliers not only know who Duke is, they offered him a scholarship in early May and they continue to be involved with the 6’5” and 185-pound combo guard.

”Last year I came on an unofficial with AJ, my teammate AJ Reeves, and I talk to Tony Bennett and Coach Sanchez on the phone,” Duke said. ”They hadn’t offered last year. They didn’t really know who I was. I just came along, it was like a team tour.”

Virginia isn’t the only ACC school in pursuit of Duke on the recruiting trail. Virginia Tech, Syracuse, and Wake Forest are among the conference competition for his commitment, while Florida, Providence, Kansas, and Villanova are among a long list of other suitors.
