Opponent’s Second Half Shooting Continues To Haunt Hoos

At halftime of Wednesday night’s game with Duke, the Virginia basketball team found itself in good shape and ahead on the scoreboard. By the end of the night, however, a season-long trend left the Hoos with a disappointing loss as the Blue Devils prevailed 65-55.

The troublesome theme? Second-half shooting by the opponent.

The Cavaliers made the Devils uncomfortable for the most part before intermission and led 25-21. The visitors shot just 33.3% (7-21) with 8 turnovers in the first half. After halftime, however, Duke ripped the nets for 57.1% shooting (12-21) and committed only 3 turnovers.

So what happened? Jayson Tatum happened.
