With college basketball’s offseason now in full swing, the media has started to split its time between wrapping up the previous season with polls and projecting next season with ‘way too early’ rankings and the like.

For Virginia basketball fans, the offseason started a few weeks ago when this year’s team finished 23-11 in the NCAA Tournament’s round of 32. Among the hot topics already? The loss of transfers Jarred Reuter, Marial Shayok, and Darius Thompson. The recruiting and transfer markets to possibly fill in some or all of those scholarships. Potential lineups and combinations for next year’s team. How good are redshirts Jay Huff and De’Andre Hunter?

Another thing that I like to look at near the start of the offseason months is to re-evaluate the top preseason questions facing the Hoos. So how did the season stack up to preseason questions? Part I is here. It’s time to tackle the second half of 10 questions that faced Tony Bennett’s team before the season started.

5. How long will it take to settle the rotation? Will the junior guards rise to the challenge?

The year that followed Malcolm Brogdon, Anthony Gill, Mike Tobey, and Evan Nolte always set up to be a transition year in terms of playing time and rotation. So one of the big – and obvious – preseason questions was how that would look in 2016-17. Who would emerge? Who would get a consistent spot locked in? Would experience trump talented youth? And how long would it all take?
