Greg’s Grades & Trends: Pitt

The grades provide analysis on the Virginia football team.

I will from time to time participate in the dramatic arts with a local community theater group and our director is fond of reminding us during dress rehearsals to “make new mistakes.”

Bronco Mendenhall’s Wahoos continue to make strides, but against Pittsburgh they continued to make new mistakes too – like allowing long kickoff returns. The Hoos seem to not repeat the previous ones, though. That’s oddly progress.

Virginia’s offense and defense played at well above average levels in the first half but the offense did a Houdini disappearing act in second half and Pitt wore down the defense with its power running attack. All that said, Pittsburgh is a very sound football team that will be in the mix for the Coastal Division’s spot in the ACC Championship.

As you review the grades, some may opine that playing the role of Scrooge in my community theater group this Christmas suits me well.
