The Virginia football team won its season-opening game for the first time since 2013 (BYU) when it took down William & Mary on Saturday, 28-10. That final margin represented the first time that UVA held an opponent to 10 or fewer points since 2013 (VMI) as well. Plus, the Hoos ended a 42-game streak with at least one turnover that dated back to 2013 too.

In other words, Saturday’s performance against the Tribe may not have been as dominant as some had hoped, but it certainly proved to be a step in the right direction. Will the Wahoos build on it in the upcoming 11 games? Time will tell. For one Saturday, however, they exorcised some lingering curses.

Let’s take a quick look back at some of the moments in the victory.
