Virginia Football Rewind: Connecticut

The Virginia football team put together a strong performance to grab a 38-18 win against Connecticut on Saturday. That pushed the team to 2-1 on the season for the first time since the five-year stretch from 2010-2014 saw the season get off to a good start.

The offense clicked in a big way against the Huskies with 626 yards on only 71 plays, a program-best mark all the way back to at least 1998. The defense performed well near the red zone to keep UConn’s scoring down. Special teams had a hiccup on kickoff coverage, but played reasonably well otherwise.

The next challenge is to string together more consistent performances week to week. Plus, the Hoos hit the road for the first time this season with a Friday night showdown with Boise State up next.

Let’s rewind the Connecticut game to see some areas that could be consistent pieces in the weeks ahead.
