Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday during the three weeks of spring practice, Virginia head coach Al Groh will talk to the media about the progress of the spring workouts. Groh touched on some hot topics that have been surrounding the beginning of the spring training.
Jones a Part of the Team, but Will Sit Out for Now
Randy Jones, who was in a horrific automobile accident a year and a half ago, is indeed on the Cavaliers roster, but unfortunately for many Virginia fans, he isn’t expected to be on the field anytime soon. Jones, who came to the University in the Fall of 2001, has not been cleared by doctors to do anything football-related. There is still hope that he will make it back on the football field, but as of now, Jones is out of any kind of action.
“We decided to carry him on the roster because he is a part of this team,” Groh said. “He won’t be able to do anything with us this spring, however.”
