2003 N.C. State Game Analysis: Youth Does in the Hoos

While it would certainly be easy to say that both teams had terrific offensive performances on Saturday, that would
be only half of the truth. The fact is, that the N.C. State and Virginia defense both had a hand to play in the success
of the two star quarterbacks, as both units had days that they might want to forget.

That is not to say that Philip Rivers and Matt Schaub did not have terrific games, as it is evident that they did.
However, a lot of Division I quarterbacks could have put up similar numbers with wide receivers and backs so wide open
all day. While the game moved back and forth, with a botched snap, a touchdown that was called back, and many other
strange occurrences, it ended with a chance for both teams to drive down the field and get the game winning score. In
the end, it was N.C. State that capitalized on their opportunity.
