he would excel at his father‘s position, that he would become a major-college football recruit.

If so, you‘d be wrong.

Three years ago, when Chris was 15, he was far from certain about his future. Football? It was OK, but he liked other
sports, too – baseball, basketball, lacrosse. And frankly, he wasn’t all that serious about any of them.

“He was like a lot of kids are at that age – playful, unfocused in the classroom. He was a very active kid,
but he couldn’t pay attention to one thing for long,” said St. Anne’s-Belfield football coach John Blake.
“He was kind of like a great big puppy. He wasn’t mature yet.”
