Temple Preview: Absolutes and Desirables

For each game, I’ll list five things Virginia needs to do (the absolutes) and five things the Cavaliers would like to do (the desirables). Here are the absolutes and the desirables for the 2004 opener at Temple.

Absolutes

Last season the Owls posted at least 150 yards on the ground against Penn State, Miami, Virginia Tech and West Virginia. This team can run the football. Temple also adds the option of a dynamic running quarterback in Walter Washington. The good news for the Virginia defenders is they had the benefit of seeing a pretty dynamic running quarterback throughout fall training camp.

The Cavaliers need to send a message to the rest of their opponents with respect to how they are going to perform against the run in 2004. It must begin on September 4th.
