Why I No Longer Hate the Hokies

For every individual, there are secrets. Things about them that neither love, nor torture, nor the combination of both – marriage – can cause them to reveal. These secrets hide deep in the recesses of their consciousness, an anchor on their everyday existence, weighing on them for the duration of their lives. We all have them, and we are all prisoners to them. Prisoners, unless we somehow find the courage to break free of their hold, and tell the world our unknown story.

Today, I am here to do just that:

I don’t think I hate Virginia Tech anymore.

There, I said it. The pressure of concealment has been eased, my troubled mind cleared, and I can finally breathe again. I’ll even say it again.
