Harris Comments on Game

Highland Springs (VA) star Victor “Macho” Harris, the state of Virginia’s top prospect and a 5-star recruit, was another of the many high school recruits on hand to see the Miami/UVa game on Saturday. Macho, who is being recruited as a cornerback/tailback, provided his observations on the game atmosphere, the team and the UVa coaches.

“I liked the atmosphere,” Harris said. “The crowd was loud. It was a lot louder than the last time I came [to a game]. I liked that the team never did give up. They still kept trying to fight even though they were down late. And I liked how the coaches were talking after the game – they were talking about how they have to get better. They can’t let a loss like this happen again, and the team played good but not good enough. I like that they have their expectations higher.”

When the UVa coaches first spoke to Harris on Saturday, “they said that when the saw me it brightened up their spirits,” Harris said. Unfortunately for the Cavaliers, the experience didn’t seem to brighten Harris’ feelings towards them from what they were before the trip. He continues not to name a leader among his top 5 schools – Miami, Michigan, Southern California, Virginia and Virginia Tech.

“No,” Harris replied when asked if the visit changed his feelings about UVa. He likes the Cavaliers, but the visit didn’t seem to have a major effect in terms of raising UVa’s chances. “I’m still even among my top 5 schools. I’m going to take official visits to UVa [on December 3rd], Virginia Tech [on December 10th] and Miami [on December 17th].”
