The Latest on Kitt Pommells

Paterson Catholic’s (Paterson, N.J.) 6-1, 205-pound star safety/wide receiver prospect Kitt Pommells has had UVa at or near the top of his list since the summer of 2004. But since September 1st, when Division I-A schools could start calling recruits once a week, the interest from the Cavaliers appears to have decreased somewhat.

“I don’t hear from them too often,” Pommells replied when asked if UVa keeps in consistent contact with him. “It’s been a while since I last talked to them. It was probably a few weeks ago. I’d say I’ve talked to them about 3 times [since September 1st].”

Pommells continues to list the Cavaliers as one of the team’s he is seriously considering, but no longer lists them (or any school for that matter) as a leader. If the Cavaliers stepped the interest back up, they would likely land an official visit from the talented prospect. Pommells has set 2 official visits right now and wants to make all 5 officials before making a final decision.

“I’ve set 2 visits,” Pommells said. “I’m going to UConn the second week in December. I’m going to Purdue in December. I’d say I’m also looking at Virginia, Syracuse and Pittsburgh. Syracuse and Pittsburgh talk to me a lot. I guess it’s just a wait and see situation with UVa.
