Mikell Makes 4th Official Visit

Heading into his official visit to UCLA last weekend, Harrisburg (PA) tailback Mikell Simpson had Alabama and Virginia at the top of his list. Following the trip to the Pac-10 program, Simpson discussed what he likes about the Bruins and answers if it’s enough to put them at the top with the Cavs and Tide.

“It was nice out there,” Simpson said. “I really enjoyed the environment and the setting. I liked the city life. I liked L.A. itself. There’s a lot of things to do. The players are cool. I was hosted by Maurice Drew. The only down about the trip was the facilities. I thought that, for a school that’s a national contender, they’d have better facilities. Another question is the depth chart. They have 3 young running backs that they alternate now, so I’ll have to look into that more. But I love the coaching staff, especially Coach Bieniemy. He is the running backs coach. He’s honest and upfront and I respect him a lot.”

So is UCLA in the mix along with Alabama and Virginia?

“Pretty much,” Simpson said. “But like I said, the facilities weren’t impressive. I liked the facilities at Virginia and Alabama. I liked everything about those 2 schools.”
