2006 Class: Liberty OL Receiving Heavy Attention

In 2004, Liberty (Bealeton, VA) head coach Tom Buzzo boasted Indiana running back signee Justin Carrington . One of the players that helped Carrington enjoy successful junior and senior year campaigns promises to be one of the top line prospects in the state of Virginia for the 2006 class. Offensive guard Alex Stadler headlines the top 2006 prospects list from Liberty.

“Alex is 6-6, 300 pounds,” Buzzo said. “He is a guard. He is a member of the National Honor Society. He’s got great grades and is a great kid. He’s a little young…age-wise he should be a sophomore here. If he was a sophomore right now I’d say he was a no-brainer, which means I’d think he could go anywhere he wanted to go. It’s kind of hard to give him that tag right now because of being young and not having a year of development. But he’s a big kid, he plays well and he’s going to get some early offers. He’s a 1-A player there’s no question.”

Stadler, who performed well this season, does a lot of things really well but has some things he needs to work on this off-season.

“He needs to keep working on getting faster, he needs to get more aggressive and he needs to start bringing his hips in,” Buzzo said. “Even at 6-6 he still gets his pad level under some of the kids which is a great thing to see on film. He really drives his feet well. He’s progressing really well. We’re working on giving him a good first step and driving your feet and punch. He’s getting all of that so he’s progressing really well.”
