Odrick One of UVa’s Top DL Targets

Lebanon (PA) star Jared Odrick is a prime target for many Division 1-A programs. According to Lebanon head coach Bill Giovino, Odrick is up to 16 Division 1-A scholarship offers and Virginia is included on the list. Like these other schools, the Cavaliers are in heavy pursuit for one of the top prospects in Pennsylvania.

“He’s been offered by Iowa, Maryland, Connecticut, Virginia, Penn State, West Virginia, Boston College, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Northwestern, Akron, Duke, Pitt, Georgia Tech, Nebraska and LSU,” Giovino said. “He’s on the national scene.”

Odrick, who last season racked up 90 tackles with 8 ½ sacks at defensive end and was an excellent left tackle, earned first-team all-league honors at both positions. He earned second-team all-state honors. Odrick has many excellent attributes, with one in particular standing out to his coach.

“His size,” Giovino said. “He’s 6-6, 290 pounds. He has great feet and he moves well. He’s very athletic. He’s so big and he moves so well and you can play him at different places. Offensively we move him to tight end because he can catch the ball. We can play him at fullback and do a bunch of things with him. He plays basketball and throws the shot.”
