Gloster Keeps on Rolling

Drew Gloster , who at 6-4, 220 pounds ran a 4.53 in the 40-yard dash and a 4.32 in the 20-yard shuttle during last week’s Elite combine in New Jersey, has cemented his place among the state of Maryland’s top prospects in the 2006 class. The Good Counsel (Wheaton, MD) standout boasts recent offers from Miami and Ohio State and should easily have around 20 Division 1-A offers in the fold by the end of May.

Gloster discussed the recent offers from Miami and Ohio State. Of Ohio State, Gloster said “I was very excited when I got the Ohio State offer. As a kid growing up, I’ve always watched the Buckeyes and I always loved watching Ohio State play. I even have a very close family friend who played running back for Ohio State in the 80s I think. I was happy I got that offer and I know for sure that sometime over the summer I’ll take a visit.”

Of Miami, Gloster said “The first time they saw me was last spring. They saw me at Dunbar High School at the NFL Development Camp for high school players. The Miami coach saw me working out with the receivers. When I got chosen for the Elite 11 last year, I was number 10. One of my comments was that, when the Miami coaches spotted me, they said I looked like a young Kellen Winslow, Junior. Ever since then I guess they’ve been watching me. After the Nike camp [at Penn State last month] I started getting mail from Miami. Then they were watching me at the Elite combine and they liked what they saw. Then they offered. It doesn’t get much better than the U.”

Other schools that have offered include Boston College, Michigan State, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Penn State, Syracuse, Virginia Tech and more recent ones Illinois, Purdue, Virginia and West Virginia. Auburn is showing heavy interest and Florida has verbally offered.
