Rated as one of the top overall prospects in the country, Forestville Military Academy (Forestville, MD) offensive lineman Antonio Logan-El has offers from schools all across the country. The other offers didn’t really matter, however, as he had been committed to the University of Maryland ever since June of 2004. Things have changed recently, as Logan-El has decided to open up his recruitment a bit and take a look at some other schools.

“At first when I committed [to Maryland], it was a solid verbal commitment,” Logan-El said. “Now it’s probably down to a soft verbal commitment. I’m not going to say that I’m decommitting from Maryland at this time, but at the same time I am looking around. Since my ninth grade year, I’ve always been going up to Maryland and have gotten to know the coaching staff very well. I was really impressed with Maryland. But then I sat back and talked about it with a couple of people and I realized that I had never visited another University, period. Then I was thinking by myself at first, wondering if I should go look at other schools. I thought that, if I did that, Maryland would get mad and stuff like that. I sat down with my coach and my grandfather and they explained to me that I needed to do what’s best for me. They said if Maryland loves me the way they say they do, then they’ll understand that I need to find the best place for me… even if it’s not Maryland. So that’s what I’m kind of doing now.”

Virginia is one of the beneficiaries of Logan-El’s new stance, as the 5-star recruit made a visit to UVa this past weekend for the blue-chip day.

“I visited the University of Virginia this past Saturday,” Logan-El said. “I was very impressed. I got a chance to meet all the coaches and my recruiting coach, Ron Prince. I even got to sit down and talk to the head coach, Al Groh. It was a good experience.”
