Last weekend, Al Groh and company added Raynard Horne , an extremely athletic talent, to the 2006 verbal commitment list. Horne, a standout for Overlea High School (Baltimore, MD), took some time to discuss his decision as well as his future on the gridiron.

Virginia is the first and only program to offer the 6-1 ½, 200-pound Horne, who drew a lot of attention after an excellent performance at the State College Nike camp. There, Horne ran a 4.46 in the 40-yard dash, posted a 36-inch vertical leap and benched 185 pounds 22 times. He also showed off his athleticism at UVa’s summer camp, which is when he drew the offer.

“I was leaning towards [committing to UVa] from the beginning, from when they first offered me,” Horne said.
