As Pemberton’s (N.J.) second-team all-state performer last season as a junior, defensive end Johnnie Troutman has garnered quite a bit of attention on the recruiting trail. He’s received scholarship offers from a handful of Division 1A programs, including Maryland, Ohio State, Penn State and Virginia, among others. Troutman received calls from all four of those programs last weekend, as well as several more.

“Recruiting for me is the same so far,” the 6-5, 265-pound Troutman said. “I’m still getting a lot of mail from colleges. Over the weekend, I got calls from Maryland, Virginia, Penn State, Louisville, Michigan State and Ohio State.”

Asked if he was close to narrowing his list, Troutman replied “I don’t know. I like my list as it is right now, but I’ll probably narrow it down soon.”
