West Side High School (Gary, IN) star Jamil Tucker verbally committed to UVa on his official visit last weekend, a decision that was not released until Wednesday night – after UVa Admissions finished reviewing Tucker’s transcripts. Almost a week after the commitment happened, TheSabre.com caught up with Jamil and West Side High School head coach John Boyd to discuss the decision.

“It was just a great, great campus,” Tucker said of UVa. “It was like another home, a family environment with everybody. The players were great and I could see myself fitting in with them. Off the court, they are laid back. They like to relax and have fun. On the court, they take care of business. I like how they encourage each other on and off the court.”

Boyd pointed out another big reason Jamil chose the Cavs.
