Almost as soon as Will Harris decided he was no longer committed to the University of Connecticut, Virginia head coach Dave Leitao was in touch with Brewster Academy (N.H.) head coach Jason Smith. Harris, a 6-6, 230-pound small forward, appears to be one of Virginia’s top remaining targets for the 2006 recruiting class.

“Virginia is definitely in the his top three to four schools that have been the most aggressive in going after him since he decided not to go to Connecticut,” Smith said. “There is Virginia, Boston College, Providence and Seton Hall.”

Harris’ recruitment has been a whirlwind of sorts. He signed with Nebraska last fall, but asked for his release due to medical concerns with his mother. Nebraska declined the request, so Harris decided not to graduate from Maine Central Institute.
