With his senior season completed, Lumberton (N.C.) 6-6, 270-pound offensive tackle recruit Hutch Eckerson is anxious to figure out where he will be next year. He will take his time in making a final decision, but is ready to focus on his decision making process. Last weekend, he made an unofficial visit to Virginia Tech for the Miami game and will make his first official visit next weekend.

“I went to Blacksburg for the first time, on an unofficial visit,” Eckerson said of last weekend. “I had a great time. I really enjoyed it. I got there on Saturday afternoon and met with the coaches. I talked with Coach Wiles for a while. They do a walk of champions, where there are like 1,000 fans and people are just going crazy. [The recruits] walked over and then they said come on. I had watched walks like those before, but had never gotten to be in it. Fans were giving us high fives and one yelled ‘Hutch, this is the place for you!’. I’ve never experienced anything like that. It was awesome. The fans are great and the visit just makes it harder on me to make a decision, I guess.”

Hutch’s first official visit will be to the University of Virginia.
