Vance (Charlotte, N.C.) defensive back Rico Bell had favored Virginia since an outstanding unofficial visit experience for the Florida State/UVa game this fall. Virginia closed the deal this weekend, as the 5-11, 185-pound standout committed to Virginia over offers from Boston College, Clemson, N.C. State and Tennessee, among others.

“I’m committed to Virginia,” Bell said. “Virginia has always been one of my top choices, it was just a matter of me getting up there to check out the school and seeing if I got along with the players. I felt like I fit in with the players real well.”

Bell’s host on the trip was Nate Lyles , and the two got along really well.
