Another top d-line prospect has arisen for the University of Virginia. 6-4, 265-pound Wakefield (Raleigh, N.C.) defensive tackle Gavin Smith , who made a verbal commitment to N.C. State in February of this year, will take official visits to three other schools, including Virginia, before making a final solid decision.

“I’d consider myself a soft verbal [to N.C. State],” Smith said of his recruiting situation. “I’ve always seen positives in the N.C. State program and I still do, which is why they are still there. But I want to see these other schools so I know I’m making a well-informed decision. All three of the other schools are in the running and I want to go on official visits to all three.”

Besides Virginia, one ACC and one SEC school are scheduled to host Smith next month.
