2007 Class: Stone Bridge OL Boasts Early Offers

From Stone Bridge’s (Ashburn, VA) 12-2 squad last season, head coach Mickey Thompson feels two players could end up on the Division 1A level in the 2007 class. There is offensive/defensive lineman Andrew Nuss , who already has several 1A scholarship offers, and then there is athlete Terence Glenn, who led the offense from the quarterback position and who Thompson calls a “late bloomer.” Jeron Gouveia, an impressive 2008 prospect, is another kid to watch next season.

An offensive tackle and defensive end for Stone Bridge, Andrew Nuss is a good athlete who played both football and basketball his sophomore year before deciding to forgo playing on the hard court this season. He also participates in track.

“He’s 6-6, 280 pounds,” Thompson said of Nuss. “But, he’s a lean kid. It’s tough to find a kid like that who is also as athletic as he is. He’s a lot like [former Stone Bridge star and current Virginia Tech player] Ed [Wang] was with his size and athleticism, but he’s a lineman all the way. He’s a kid who is getting looks from everybody.”

Nuss has received official scholarship offers from Duke, Maryland, Virginia Tech and West Virginia. He also is drawing serious interest from Miami, which is where he may make an unofficial visit this weekend, as well as Notre Dame and UVa, among others. While Thompson didn’t want to name a favorite for his standout lineman, he admits Nuss was excited about one offer in particular.
