As reported last week by the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Ben C. Rain (Mobile, AL) prospect Johnnie Lett will head to Hargrave Military Academy before heading to the University of Virginia. The 6-9, 235-pound power forward/center recruit would certainly rather enroll at Virginia later this year but is looking to make his Hargrave experience a positive one.
“It’s all set. I’m going to Hargrave for a year,” Lett said. “I can go there and get stronger, raise my grades and become more intense on the court. Overall, I think Hargrave will be good for me.”
Lett is set on becoming a Virginia Cavalier, saying “that won’t change. I’m sticking with my decision.”
In his senior season, Lett averaged 15.6 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks per game while leading his team to a 17-8 record. He’s looking to add more offensive firepower to his game in the coming year before joining coach Leitao and company.
“I want to develop a 16 to 18 foot jump shot,” Lett said. “I’m also going to work hard on my free throw shooting.”
Lett will now be a part of Virginia’s 2007 recruiting class. The ‘Hoos also have a commitment from Penn Charter (Philadelphia, PA) 6-1, 185-pound point guard Sam Zeglinski for the 2007 class.
