Several weeks ago, UVa sent out an official scholarship offer to 6-5, 225-pound linebacker recruit John Stokes . The Memphis University School (Memphis, TN) standout, rated a three-star prospect by Rivals.com and Scout.com, had been hearing from the ‘Hoos since last fall and seemed pleased at receiving the offer.

“Virginia is a pretty recent offer and I’m excited about that,” Stokes said. “I went to the Virginia/Florida State game last year, which was an awesome game. It was a great atmosphere. It was a great feel for Virginia and I got a great impression of Virginia from that game. I’m interested in Virginia and I like the opportunity.”

UVa, which, along with Colorado, is the most recent to offer, joins an impressive list of schools in the running. Auburn, Alabama, Michigan, Stanford and Tennessee are among the 11 other programs that have offered.
