Coffeyville Community College (KS) linebacker/safety Larry Asante has garnered significant attention from schools in the Big 12 conference, landing offers from Iowa State, Kansas State and Nebraska. The 6-1 1/2, 215-pound Asante is interested in those programs, but is also interested in returning closer to his home state of Virginia.

After being at Annandale High School for his first three years of high school, Asante transferred to Hayfield High School for his senior year. He drew attention from local programs, but never received any offers.

“I was getting recruited by Virginia Tech, UVa, Maryland and Marshall, but my ACT score hadn’t been good enough,” recalled Asante, now rated a four-star prospect by Rivals and Scout. “I took it again the day before graduation. My mom called me and told me that it came back and I had scored a 24, so I qualified but I was already at Coffeyville. My coach told me I should stay up here.”
