6-6, 270-pound offensive lineman Dalton Freeman , one of the most highly recruited offensive line prospects in the East, is fresh off visits to Virginia and Virginia Tech. The Pelion (S.C.) standout took some time to discuss his recent trips as well as what else lies ahead in his recruitment.

Accompanied by his father, he traveled to UVa last Saturday. They first met with head coach Al Groh for half an hour, then watched highlight tape, toured the athletic facilities, the John Paul Jones arena and finally the grounds. It was a one day trip spent mostly with primary recruiter Levern Belin.

“Coming in, I didn’t know what to expect,” Freeman began. “I knew it was a good academic school, but I didn’t realize how good of a school it is. It is one of the best in the country as far as public schools. Coach Groh coached in the NFL. He did really well as a coach in the NFL. It was neat to be around him. My dad played for him [for one season at Wake Forest], so that was neat. It was cool to sit there because he and my dad talked about the old days a little bit. Coach Groh stressed how much they wanted me. The conversation was laid back, but he got his point across about how much they want me.”
