Nick Jenkins is “hoping to play” this season for UVa.

To redshirt or not to redshirt? That is the question facing college football coaches throughout the nation every summer and fall. And finding the right answers is not always easy or popular.

As was the case with Virginia’s 2006 recruiting class, a vast majority of the 2007 class looks destined to ride the bench this year. But there are several true freshmen making a strong claim for playing time in 2007. One of these athletes is nose tackle Nick Jenkins .

Listed at 6’3″, 315 pounds, Jenkins already has the size to compete at the college level, a trait that has not gone unnoticed by head coach Al Groh.
